The Long Game: Standing The Test Of Time

Making Daily Progress ~Issue #34

A Lesson In Longevity~

Many years ago, a portion of my family moved from the South to Windsor, Connecticut, which is a very interesting place rich in history. It is very old, established in the 1600s, and was the first settlement in CT. Here’s a few interesting facts:

  • It was originally inhabited by Indigenous People, primarily the Podunk, Poquonock, and Tunxis Tribes. (The last 2 having an elementary and college named after them)

  • Windsor served as the State Capital for about a year, and it was around this time that the first Constitution Convention in America was held which is the reason why CT is called the Constitution State.

  • Though New Hampshire gets the recognition as having the oldest continuously operating post office in America, the East Windsor Hill post office received the first Government Post Rider in 1783.

Can you imagine the business you started lasting for centuries?

Maintaining the integrity of your processes and remaining consistent with the mission despite everything going on in the world and the many changes that will and often occur takes a lot of will.

Anything is possible with the proper execution of a plan and a commitment to stick to it, which reminds me of what I am committed to and how I can assist:

It is important, and my objective for women with small businesses to have complete autonomy with their finances with absolutely no restraints. I am looking forward to what I am putting in motion being talked about hundreds of years from now!

Hit reply, tell me an interesting fact about where you are in the world. 😊

✨Quick Reminder…… Mixing money can get messy!!!

It is so very important to separate them. Here is how to untangle business and personal expenses:

  • Get a dedicated business checking account and the discipline to not touch it for personal use.

  • Set up automatic transfers for owner draws / salary.

  • Use the business card for business purchases.

  • Create owner draw vs. business expense categories. If you paid for your groceries with your business card, that is not a business expense, that is a draw. If you bought office supplies with a personal card, that is a business expense, and you must reimburse yourself.

One would never know the true cost of doing business if some of what is being paid for with its capital has nothing to do with it. This affects your taxes as well. It’s very easy to be accused of fraud if you claim personal expenses as business deductions.

This is a common issue, and it doesn’t have to be. Remember, the story is in the numbers, and it’s hard to understand the story with holes and missing parts.

Quote of the day

Season 3 World GIF by American Gods

And when you are calm, you make wise decisions with your money, which then allows you to be truly generous to others as well as yourself, which, in turn, makes you a happy, powerful and beautiful woman.

~ Suze Orman - Women & Money

First of all, this will improve her family’s well-being because she will be more likely to invest in it. Women with financial clarity often become powerful role models for generations after them, teaching them of financial literacy and responsibility, which many of us were not taught when we were in school. Women become full participants in the economy, pushing economic growth.

Clarity does lead to a calmer state of mind. We all benefit.

Thank you.

Here’s to another week filled with possibilities! I am grateful to still exist and that I have the power to create what is in my world instead of just surviving in it. I appreciate you for still allowing me into your inbox and for your support, as always. It is my goal that you walk away knowing something that you didn’t. Or maybe even being reminded of something. There is a lot on all of our plates, it’s easy to let things slip our minds. Have the most awesome day today and thank you again. 🤗
